Top 10 Juicing Recipes to Help You Heal Your Gut

Doing a Fast or Detox? Use these recipes that focus on each of our organs of elimination. For each, press through a juicer and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. The world of juicing is vast, I like to think of these a nutrient power-bombs where you can get a wide variety of different vegetables into you, all disguised by the mere squeeze of an orange.

A Few Tips Before You Get Started for Juicing

Always choose more vegetables than fruit in your juice. Juices, even ones made from vegetables, technically are just like drinking a can of pop in the amount of sugar your body is going to get. HOWEVER, it is naturally occurring sugar, without the added chemicals and dye, yet these juices, as they lack the fibres from the fruits & veggies to slow down the processing into sugar molecules, pack a heavy sugar punch. So dont overwhelm your body with pineapple, mango, strawberry combos. Instead, add one-fruit to 2 or 3 different vegetables.

Choosing to have a juice outside of a juice-detox? Its best to have it alongside a meal, preferably one with fats to help absorb the fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A (great for your skin) and vitamin E. Consider having it with an avocado, nuts & seeds, or a full meal.

KIDNEY CARE *(note: do not do a cleanse or detox without medical supervision or approval if you have kidney disease or dysfunction).

  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Cranberries
  • 2 Stalks of Celery
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Bunch of Parsley

  • 1 Whole Green Apple
  • 1/2 Fresh Lemon
  • 3 Carrots
  • Green Leaf of Choice (kale, collards, arugula, romaine, etc).

  • 1/2 Dandelion Leaf
  • 1 Small Bunch of Parsley
  • 2 Sticks of Celery
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1/2 Small Cucumber

  • 1/2 Clove Garlic
  • 2-3 Green Leaves
  • 1/2 Inch Ginger
  • 2 Carrots
  • 2 Stalks of Celery

  • 1/2-1 Inch Ginger
  • 3 Leaves of Kale
  • 1/2 Green Apple
  • 1 Stalk Celery

  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 4 sprigs mint
  • 5 stalks of kale (use the leaves for your salads)
  • 1 small green apple
  • 1 cup broccoli stalks (use the leafy heads for your meals!).
  • 1 handful of watercress
  • 1 small cucumber
  • 1 lemon, peeled

Cucumbers are great for the skin as they contain silica. Blackberries provide the anti-oxidant defence against environmental stressors, and broccoli & watercress have the liver-surging support of sulfur.  Carrots & and dark leafy veggies like spinach and kale, have the chlorophyll-saving carotenoids, have anti-oxidant like support for our overall health and eyes. Pectin in apples, helps your liver by binding to cholesterol and fat-soluble toxins in the gut, avoiding their absorption into our bodies and instead, eliminating them as they are bound to the fiber. Therefore pectin helps detox us of harmful substances that our liver would otherwise be burdened by.
